RHYTHMS - Week 7
Matthew 11:28-30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (MSG)
Today we are looking at the Rhythm of Rest.
One of our values here at DP is: Life is better connected.
Genesis 2:18 It is not good for the man to be alone.
Christianity was never meant to be lived out alone but lived out connected together with others.
We’re being built like a building.
Ephesians 2:21-22 In him the whole building, being put together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you are also being built together for God’s dwelling in the Spirit.
We're joined in a body.
Romans 12: 4-5 Now as we have many parts in one body, and all the parts do not have the same function, in the same way we who are many are one body in Christ and individually members of one another
We're born into a family.
Ephesians 2:19 You are members of God’s family (NLT)
“Most people think that Christianity is a belief system. There are beliefs in Christianity, but it's so much more. Christianity is a belong system.” - Rick Warren
As members of God’s family we are called to:- Love one another (John 13:34)- Live in harmony with one another (Romans 12:16)- Care for one another (1 Corinthians 12:25)- Serve one another (Galatians 5:13)- Forgive one another (Ephesians 4:2,32)- Be patient with one another (Ephesians 4:2; Colossians 3:13)- Pray for one another (James 5:16)- Confess your faults to one another (James 5:16)

OUR LIFE GROUPS PROVIDE 3 THINGS?
1. A Place to Connect you with Others.
Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves…to the fellowship
Koinonia: fellowship, sharing in common, communion
2. A Place to Protect each Other.
Hebrews 3:12-13 Watch out, brothers and sisters, so that there won’t be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage each other daily, while it is still called today, so that none of you is hardened by sin’s deception. (CSB)
Satan wants to isolate us, so that way we are more susceptible to his schemes.
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober-minded, be alert. Your adversary the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour.
3. A Place to Grow Together.
Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another
Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider one another in order to provoke love and good works, not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.
