Outdoor Greeters
Outdoor greeters play a vital role in welcoming every person who comes into the church. As an outdoor greeter, you help guests form their first impression of the church before they even enter the door!
Check List
Check the parking lot for litter
Be outside at the door 15 minutes prior to service
Spread out so that we are not an obstacle to entering the church
If there are less than 3 greeters, then only use the doors closest to the Community room. Open the doors for each guest and welcome them to the church
For four or more greeters, use both sets of doors. Open the doors for each guest and welcome them to the church.
It is great to talk with your fellow volunteers while serving, but we should always make the guests our first priority
If you don't recognize someone, introduce yourself and then ask how long they have been coming to the church. If it is their first time, introduce them to the volunteers at Guest Central
If someone appears lost after walking into the building, ask them if you can help them find anything. If this is their first time offer them a cup of coffee and introduce them to the volunteers at Guest Central
Stay outside greeting an later guests until 15 minutes after service. This is a great time to hang out in the Volunteer Connections room and connect with other volunteers. Be back outside before the end of service to thank everyone for coming and to invite them back next week.
