Rerouting - Week 2

Jan 19, 2020    Jeremy Ross

Key Scriptures:
Romans 8: 5-8, 1 Timothy 1:7, Luke 15:3-7, Romans 12:2

WHEN WE LOSE FOCUS, WE WILL GET OFF COURSE

Romans 8:5-8
Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.

OUR LIFE WILL MOVE IN THE DIRECTION OF OUR STRONGEST THOUGHTS

1 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline

GOD IS ALWAYS THERE TO HELP US GET BACK ON COURSE

Luke 15: 3-7
So Jesus told them this story: “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders.

When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!

NEW YEAR – NEW FOCUS – BACK ON TRACK

Romans 12:2
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
