Question: Are you a planner or just go with the flow?
I. Who do people say I am?
A.Outward perceptions.
8:28 “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say you are one of the other prophets.”
B.The world misses who Jesus is.
II.But Who do you say I am?
A.Our personal understanding
8:29 Peter replied, “You are the Messiah.
B.Who is Jesus to us personally? (be honest)

III.Correction from Jesus is good.
A. God’s plan is not our plan.
B.Point of View- Human or God’s
8: 33 Jesus turned around and looked at his disciples, then reprimanded Peter. “Get away from me, Satan!” he said. “You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God’s.”
IV.The Cost of following Jesus
A. Give us your own way
8:34 Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.
B.Take up your cross and follow Jesus.
C.Sacrificing your way
D.Committing to his plan- your cross while following Jesus.
Being a follower is cheap these days.-- social media.
Sacrifice, commitment, taking up your cross…. A symbol of death to self.
Decision today
●Is it God’s plan or yours?
●Who do you say Jesus is?
●Are you truly following Jesus?
●What is your cross that Jesus has for you?
